PAST ACTIONS + SIGHTINGS
Since 2001 we have folded
origami boats and projected the 'Boat People' tallship image onto
landmarks and public spaces in Sydney. We've been invited to Melbourne
as analogue bodies, networked online with artists and activists
from Perth, to Canberra, to New York and Amsterdam. We've contributed
to exhibitions, email lists and rallies, and expanded our message
to encompass more meanings and media. We've joined momentary and
lasting communities online and off; experimented, failed, made small
steps...
We remain keen to work
on ideas to alter the political lanscape: YOUR IDEAS are most welcome.

"Truth is absolute, truth is supreme, truth is never disposable in national political life" - John Howard 25 August 1995

DIRTY LAUNDRY ACTION:
Howard's dirty laundry was hung out to dry Thursday prior to the election as a reminder to shoppers in the Pitt Street Mall that the man has a most hideous laundry basket of deceipt and a clothes line chockers with contempt Australian people.

END THE LIES:
Liberal Party rats were present at the End the Lies rally to present the Liberal party promise of a trustworthy government - one you can trust on the economy (recent economic performance is largely due to ininitatives undertaken years ago by the Hawke Labor government - and under Howard our national debt has doubled to an unsustainable $393.5 billion), employment (the REAL figure is in double digits as the govt figures don't take into account people who are under-employed, some only working a few hours and subsisting) , WMDs (either he knew or handled it incompetently), children overboard (perhaps the worst lie because it won him an election) and so on .. see www.johnhwardlies.com for more

BORDERPANIC
- SYDNEY
September 2002:
Artists Deborah Kelly and Zina Kaye curated the BORDERPANIC
project, co-produced by Performance Space, Redfern, and the
MCA, Circular Quay. For the exhibition part of the project
at the Performance Space, this humble shrine was our contribution.
Much more powerful and evocative works of art regarding the
border hysteria gripping much of the 'white' world were also
presented.
A reader incorporating
essays and images was also produced as part of the project.
It is available forAUD $10 inc. p+p from Performance Space:

ART OF DISSENT - MELBOURNE FESTIVAL
October 2002:
The Sydney crew headed south on invitation from the Melbourne
Festival to commemorate the first anniversary of the sinking
of the SIEV-X, when 353 asylum seekers drowned en route to
Australia. In collaboration with relatives of some of the
children who drowned when the SIEV-X sank, we projected their
names and faces onto a human screen on the banks of the Yarra
river.

BOAT PEOPLE DAY SYDNEY RALLY
March 2002: A wonderfully diverse
group of people came down to the Department of Immigration's
offices in the Rocks in Sydney on Good Friday to help fold
3,301 paper boats - one for every person (at that time) held
in detention due to Australia's policies on people arrviving
here without papers.
The Internomad truck also took to the streets to spread the word througout inner city Sydney, finishing with a big entrance at the DIMA offices. Many thanks to Alex for supporting the cause!
